Responsibilities:
- Identify common masonry problems when visually assessing a historic masonry structure.
- Differentiate between suitable and unsuitable materials as well as techniques for preservation of historic masonry structures.
- Write expert specifications based on industry standards and best practices for quality assurance and quality control over historic masonry preservation materials and techniques.
- Evaluate project-specific materials and techniques for preserving historic masonry structures in-situ against historic preservation industry standards and best practices.
- Work directly with specifiers to confirm masonry condition findings and to establish a clear scope of work for complex restoration projects.
- Assist in preparing the construction documents and/or reviewing the current specification requirements for the project.
Requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience in job offered or in conservation or restoration of architectural details.
Special skills:
- Experience with conservation of historic facades and buildings or historic objects and performing conservation using color merging technique or coloristic unification.
Frequent domestic travel required.
